Motorist denies causing death of Jayden-Lee by dangerous driving
A driver has denied causing the death of a nine-year-old Telford boy by dangerous driving.
Raja Khan, 19, of Hurleybrook Way in Leegomery, pleaded not guilty to a charge of causing the death of Jayden-Lee McIvor by driving dangerously on Haybridge Road in Hadley on February 2 this year.
He appeared before Shrewsbury Crown Court yesterday, where Judge Peter Barrie adjourned the case for trial saying that it was likely to be held in mid February.
Jayden's family were in court.
The nine-year-old, who was a pupil at Millbrook Primary School, died after he was involved in a collision with a car on a pedestrian crossing on Haybridge Road.
Jayden's grandmother Jennifer Kenward thanked local people for their help and for their support since the tragedy.
"We are overwhelmed by the words of comfort we have received from everyone," she said. "I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who was there who tried to help him."
