Telford police found 100 packages of heroin and crack cocaine in car, court told
Police found more than 100 packages of heroin and crack cocaine in a car in Telford after observing what they believed to be a drug deal, a court was told.
The two occupants of the black Ford Focus, which was parked in Eyton Road, Malinslee, are at Shrewsbury Crown Court standing trial on a number of charges.
Sajeed Mahmood, 42, of Eyton View, Wellington, and Tevonn Saunders, 23, of Leasowes Drive, Wolverhampton, both deny two charges of possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply on September 16, 2014.
Mahmood also denies possessing cannabis with intent to supply.
At the opening of the trial yesterday, prosecuting counsel Miss Balvinder Bhatti said: "The two police officers saw a transaction taking place which they believed was a drugs deal.
"When they approached the vehicle Mr Mahmood, the driver, was shuffling around on his seat, while the officers observed Mr Saunders looked nervous."
The prosecutor said that as Saunders got out of the car two packages fell onto the floor which were later found to be crack cocaine. She said in total 128 packages of heroin and cocaine were found along with cannabis, while text messages retrieved from the phones of the two men indicated they were involved in the supply of drugs.
"There was a dispute about who owned the drugs," Miss Bhatti said.
"Mr Mahmood said they were nothing to do with him, while Mr Saunders claimed they were nothing to do with him either.
"It is the Crown's case that these defendants were both jointly in possession of class A drugs with intent to supply to others."
The trial continues.
