Flytippers dump huge pile of metal and plastic strips on footpath near Newport

Flytippers abandoned large metal and plastic strips on a path in Church Aston.

The debris was dumped on a lane off Wellington Road, near The Aston pub. It was said to be around 20 meters long, and completely blocked the entire path for cyclists and pedestrians.

It was found by John David Gittus, who went out on a bike ride and found the mess. He reported the problem to the police.

He said: "I couldn't believe it.

"Someone has had to take a low loader down, dropped it and then has drove off. Unfortunately there are no clues as to when it happened.

"I don't like people dropping litter, but this is something else. It's not a carrier bag or a chip packet – it's a much bigger scale."
