Shrewsbury murder probe as boy, 16, dies days after stabbing
A 16-year-old boy stabbed in Shrewsbury died today, sparking a police murder probe.
The boy died in hospital at around 6.30am after the stabbing in Meole Brace on Monday night.
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Moxley said: "It is with regret that I announce that the teenage victim in this incident sadly died this morning at approximately 6.30.
"This is an extremely tragic incident and my thoughts and condolences go out to the victim's family who are being fully supported by officers during this difficult time.
"Our enquiries are ongoing and a thorough and a robust murder investigation is now underway.
"We understand incidents of this nature are concerning but I would like to reassure the local community that we are doing all in our power to bring those responsible to justice."
"We continue to appeal for information and are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen or heard anything on Monday evening in Meole Brace, particularly between 9pm and 10pm.
"If you have any information, no matter how small, please contact police."

Three people arrested yesterday in connection with the stabbing have been released on police bail.
