Shrewsbury murder: Girlfriend pays tribute to 'loving and kind lad' who was about to become father
The 16-year-old murder victim stabbed last week was due to become a father, it has emerged.
Michael Warham, from Liverpool, was stabbed last week in Meole Brace and was rushed to hospital but died days later from his injuries.
Police are continuing to search for those responsible, as his girlfriend Nikita, revealed he was due to become a father.
In a tribute to him, she told the Liverpool Echo he "never had a bad bone in his body".
She said: "He was the most loving and kindest lad you could ever meet with a heart of gold.
It comes as police said they have no idea why Michael Warham was in the Meole Brace area last week when he was stabbed in a violent attack.
Officers said a number of lines of investigation were being looked into but added they don't yet know where he was staying, or who he was with.
But they do believe he was specifically targeted rather than being the victim of a random attack.
The teenager was found collapsed in Wayford Close last Monday with a single stab wound, before being rushed to hospital. He underwent surgery but died on Thursday morning.
Many took to Facebook to send condolences to his family.
Lisa Williams wrote: "RIP Michael you lovely lad x so glad I got to meet you I'll never forget that big smile you have."
Cheryl Mckeown said: "RIP Mikey taken far too soon thinkin of your family at this sad time. You will be sadly missed by every one that knew you. Rest in peace angel."
Degzi Egan said: "RIP Cuz! Far too young to die" while Lorraine Hall wrote: "God bless lad cruelly taken away so young bless your family so sorry."
Police had arrested three people in connection with the murder, but all three have since been released on bail.
Investigations are being concentrated on three areas of Shrewsbury during the night Michael was attacked – the Stapleton Road/Wayford Close area at about 9.40pm, Meole Brace McDonald's at about 10pm and Royal Shrewsbury Hospital at about 11pm.
DCI Moxley said: "We are asking for anyone in that area that might have seen groups of lads at the McDonalds, or if people went through the drive-through or maybe had dash cam footage in that area, to get in touch."
Detectives have asked for anyone with information to contact police using the non-emergency 101 number, quoting the incident reference 775s of August 1 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
