Woman stabbed in Shifnal after dispute with men
A woman was stabbed in Shifnal after she approached men causing problems in a town.
The woman, who was not seriously hurt, approached two men who were seen standing around parked cars in Shifnal.
She left her home and approached the men where there was a row and she was pushed.
It was only the next morning after going to sleep that she woke with pain to her left side and found two small puncture wounds, one on the left side of her torso and the other on her stomach.
She was taken to the trauma centre in Stoke, where she received treatment and was released later the same day.
The attack happened in the Bluegate cul-de-sac, off Aston Street.
The attack is the latest disturbance to happen in the town and comes as people call for action to target problems of anti-social behaviour.
Anti-social behaviour problems in Shifnal
Councillors have urged people, particularly those living around Bluegate and Greenfields, to continue reporting problems.
Councillor Kevin Turley, Shropshire Council ward member for Shifnal North, said that he had received reports of anti-social behaviour around Greenfields and Bluegate on the night of the crime.
He said: "I understand there were some young men out messing around with parked cars and I believe this woman went out to try and chase them off or send them away and she was stabbed in the process.
"A few months ago we were discussing this issue and telling the people of Shifnal about the need to report anti-social behaviour but this has really escalated."
Councillor Turley said he has been in regular contact with the woman who has been left shaken by the incident but is recovering well.
He said "I know she is very grateful for the support she has received from people.
"In times of need, people in Shifnal always come together and it is a great place for that."
Meanwhile, police are continuing to appeal for information regarding the attack on the woman.
The two men were described as white and both were wearing dark clothing. They are believed to be between 5ft 9ins and 5ft 10ins tall, of average build and are thought to be in their late teens.
Detective Constable Janet Teggin, who is leading the investigation, said: "I am keen to speak to anyone in Bluegate, Aston Street, Greenfields Crescent and any surrounding areas that may have witnessed any suspicious behaviour between 2am and 3am last Friday."
Anyone who has information that would help the investigation should contact West Mercia Police on 101 and quote incident number 126s of September 30.
