Wem Town Council is appealing for information after the ramps in the recreational ground were painted with graffiti on Wednesday morning.

A statement on the town council's website says those responsible were caught on CCTV.

It says: "We are working with the police to identify them."

The words "Salop edition" and "community spirit" were daubed on the ramps.

Anyone with information should contact the town council.

Recently the men's toilets off Newport Road, in Market Drayton, had to be closed following the discovery of extensive graffiti.

The council revealed it may have to delay construction of a new skate park on the site of the existing one until new CCTV cameras are installed in the area.

A council working group will now meet to discuss suitable locations for the new cameras.

Two cameras costing about £3,000 are to be installed to cover the public toilets and skate park on Newport Road.
