Yasmin Akhtar's white Audi was set on fire by vandals when it was parked overnight near her home near Camarthen Green, Leegomery.

She said she can't understand the reasons behind the crime, after police issued a plea for information following a spate of arsons in the area.

Yasmin purchased her car on October 4 and only had it for one day before it was totally destroyed by the blaze.

She said: "Why people are doing this, I don't know. I don't think our property is safe.

"Police told us it could be part of street crime and it's happened with other cars also in Leegomery."

Three car fires in Leegomery earlier this month have been treated as arson.

On October 5, a Ford C-Max was found on fire on Chockleys Meadow and spread to a Citroen C4.

The following day an Audi Quattro was set alight shortly after midnight at the junction of Grainger Drive and Camarthen Green. Later that night, the white Audi A6 was also found alight near Camarthen Green.

Anyone with information about any of the fires is urged to call 101. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or at crimestoppers-uk.org
