Jailed: Man who punched clubber in Telford leaving him with bleed on the brain
A man who punched a clubber from behind leaving him with a bleed on the brain has been locked up for a year.
Kaimar Williams, 20, launched the attack outside Pussycats nightclub in Wellington on November 29 last year.
Shrewsbury Crown Court heard how one of the victim's friends had been involved in some trouble in the club earlier in the evening.
When he left at about 4am, the group involved in the trouble with his friend were pointed out to him and a verbal row broke out.
The court was told that Williams then walked up behind the victim and punched him, knocking him out straight away.
The victim was left with a small cut on his head and a small bleed on his brain which did not need any major treatment.
Williams, who admitted a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, said in police interview the victim had punched a friend of his and only hit him as he feared he was going to be attacked.
It took place while Williams, of Crescent Road, Hadley, Telford, was on a suspended sentence.
In mitigation, Mr David Iles said: "He was not prowling the club or outside looking for somebody to attack. He thought he was sticking up for his friend."
