A man entered Coral bookmakers in Mytton Oak Road, Shrewsbury, and pointed what is believed to be a black hand gun at two male members of staff.

He handed them a bag and told them to put money in it, which they did, and then left the shop.

It happened between 7.20pm and 7.30pm yesterday. The amount of money taken has not been revealed by police.

It is believed that the man might have run down an alleyway which leads to Crowmeole Drive.

The offender was wearing dark clothing, a balaclava and gloves and might have been carrying a yellow JD sports bag.

Police say no-one was injured during the robbery but the two members of staff were very shaken.

Detective Constable Steve Lloyd, from Shrewsbury CID, said: "This was obviously a very frightening incident for the members of staff but thankfully no-one was injured.

"We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area last night and saw the man or has any information which might help us."

Anyone with information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
