BMW thief in Shrewsbury caught after being traced on phone tracking app

A man has admitted stealing a BMW that was later traced using a mobile phone tracking app.

Dwight Jeffrey-Shaw, 28, also pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking on the A5 at Quarry, in Shrewsbury, drink driving, having no licence and no insurance in relation to the incident on October 27.

Co-defendants Jake Fox, 26, pleaded guilty to stealing the car owner's mobile phone, and Stacey Dykes, 37, pleaded guilty to stealing a rucksack.

Both men appeared via prison video link at Shrewsbury Crown Court.

Jeffrey-Shaw, of Bainbridge Green, Shrewsbury, denied threatening another with a bladed article at the the Co-operative Store, in Mytton Oak Road; and denied theft of the rucksack and the phone.

Fox, of Derfald Street, and Dykes, of Morton Crescent, both Shrewsbury, each denied a further theft charge.

The black BMW belonging to James Adams was recovered in Dawley, Telford.

Fox also pleaded guilty to a charge of unlawfully wounding Matthew Pope on September 11, an unrelated matter.

All the matters were adjourned until next week and Dykes was granted bail.
