West Mercia Police say they are looking witnesses to the crash, which involved a black Vauxhall Tigra, and a small orange car, believed to be a Micra or Corsa.

Laura Maltby of West Mercia Police said: "A black Vauxhall Tigra was stationary on the traffic island waiting to exit onto Meole Brace Retail Park when a small orange vehicle, thought to be a Micra or Corsa, collided with it.

"The driver failed to stop and headed off in the direction of Dobbies and the A5.

"Officers believe the car would have sustained substantial front end damage and they are keen to speak to anyone who may have been within the area at the time of the incident or who saw the car and the manner in which it was being driven before the collision."

The crash took place on Hereford Road, Shrewsbury, shortly after 2.30pm on Friday.
