Trainer admits killer dog charge after dozens of sheep die

A dog trainer's animals killed dozens of sheep on a farm on the Shropshire border.

Charles Ross-Robertson, 64, from Stanton Lacy, near Ludlow, admitted being the owner of a dog which had worried livestock a farm in Risbury, near Leominster, when he appeared at Hereford Crown Court yesterday.

The attack happened on September 2, 2016,last year and is said to have led to the death of about 35 sheep. He also admitted two further counts of being in charge of a dog which was dangerously out of control in a public place. One charge of being in possession of an offensive weapon in a public place was left on file.

At the time of the offences Ross-Robertson lived at Risbury, but has since moved to the Ludlow area. He He had a business as an animal behaviourist specialising in training undisciplined and aggressive dogs, and claimed to have worked with the police and the Army in a 40-year career.

Ross-Robertson is due to appear on March 14 for sentence and was given bail.
