12-month driving ban for Shropshire drug driver
A Shropshire man who self-medicated on cannabis has been given a 12-month driving ban after he was found to be over the drug-drive limit.
Simon Bowerman's Ford Focus was stopped in Castle Street, Shrewsbury, Telford Magistrates Court heard.
Ms Abigail Hall, prosecuting, said a breath test proved negative but the 27-year-old admitted to smoking cannabis a few hours before he was stopped.
Traces of the drug were found when a blood sample was tested.
Bowerman, of Bridgnorth Road, Much Wenlock, pleaded guilty to being over the drug drive limit on November 26 last year.
Mr Stephen Scully, representing Bowerman, said: "He's been suffering from severe anxiety. He was self medicating on cannabis."
Bowerman will also pay £135 costs, a £100 fine and a £30 victim surcharge.
