Lisa Passey, of Tenbury Wells, and Wayne Dale of no fixed address, deny a joint charge of manslaughter by gross negligence.

They are accused of leaving their 13-month-old son Kian Dale unsupervised upstairs in a bath-seat for at least 13 minutes, after which he was found lying over the back of it with his head and upper body immersed.

A jury at Worcester Crown Court heard this week that Passey was downstairs with a friend drinking coffee, while Dale was “socialising, listening to music and using his computer”.

After three days of evidence the trial has been adjourned to restart from 10.30am on Monday, with the prosecution still setting out its case. The trail may run for as long as three weeks.
