Christopher Clarke, 46, was convicted by a jury of the single charge involving a girl under 13 following a trial last month.

Judge Jim Tindal said he accepted there had been no grooming of the victim and that it was a one-off, brief incident for Clarke's sexual gratification.

Clarke, of Shawfield Close, Sutton Hill, was jailed for 28 months for the offence, which happened in January last year.

He was also made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order for five years and will be on the sex offenders' register for 10 years.

Clarke appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court to be sentenced.
