Teenage boy slapped by driver after Newport collision

A teenage boy was slapped by a man after the youngster collided with his car door mirror in Newport.

Police are investigating the assault, which is believed to have taken place at around 1.20pm on Wednesday, May 3, in Stafford Street.

The teenager was in collision with the offside door mirror of a blue car, believed to be a Ford Fiesta, as he crossed the road.

The car stopped and the driver allegedly verbally abused the boy. He is then reported to have slapped the victim, causing redness to his face, before getting back in his car and driving off in the direction of Lower Bar.

The driver has been described as white, aged in his late 50s to 60-years-old, around 5ft 6ins tall and of stocky build. He was wearing a blue jumper, light blue jeans, spectacles and had greying/white hair.
