Teenage girl punched in face and had mobile phone stolen in Telford

A teenage girl was punched in the face before having her phone stolen in Telford.

The 17-year-old girl is understood to have been walking on the railway bridge in Telford at about 2.30pm on Tuesday when she was approached by an unknown man.

The man is reported to have punched the victim to her face before taking her iPhone.

The victim was then believed to be pushed into a bush. She suffered injuries to her face and legs and was taken to hospital.

A 25-year-old man from Telford has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and has been released under investigation.

Enquiries are currently ongoing but police officers are keen to speak to people who saw anyone acting suspiciously, who witnessed the incident or who was in the area at the time.
