Ms Abigail Hall, prosecuting, said 22-year-old Joshua Turner had asked the woman whether he could record them having sex.

She initially refused and it made him angry, Telford Magistrates Court heard.

Ms Hall said the woman felt pressured into it and she ended up going along with his wishes. Afterwards, she attempted to take his mobile phone from him and delete the video.

The court was told he would not let her but agreed not to show anybody the video.

Ms Hall said after they had ended their relationship he had shown the film to another man. She said when Turner was interviewed by police, he said he had shown the video because he had been angry at her.

Reading a victim impact statement, Ms Hall said: “She states she doesn’t feel the same about herself since this incident. She doesn’t like people seeing her body now the defendant has exposed it. She doesn’t like the thought of having another relationship with a male.

“She’s lost sleep worrying about everything and worrying the defendant may turn up at her address causing trouble.”

The court heard that Turner had also used the woman’s bank card without permission for betting purposes. Turner, of Castle Acre Road, Leegomery, Telford, pleaded guilty to stealing £130 on August 2 last year.

He also admitted disclosing a private sexual film with the intent to cause distress on August 24 last year, although a Newton hearing was held after certain issues were disputed.

He also pleaded guilty to committing a further offence after being given a two-year conditional discharge in August last year. The court heard he had been given the conditional discharge for sending malicious communications, in which he threatened to send intimate photos of another woman to her family.

Mr Paul Nicholas, representing Turner, said he never intended to cause distress to the woman involved and needed to change the way he behaves in a relationship.

He told the court that Turner also desperately wanted to join the armed forces.

Turner was given a restraining order, forbidding any contact with the woman for the period of a year. He was also ordered to carry out 150 hours unpaid work and complete a 20-day rehabilitation activity requirement.

Turner will have to pay £720 costs, £130 compensation and an £85 victim surcharge.
