Ryan Davies, 25, was one of several people who stole plant equipment from the premises at Priorslee in Telford earlier this year.

He had also escaped from the custody of a police officer having been arrested following the incident on February 25.

At Shrewsbury Crown Court, Davies was given a one-year prison sentence, suspended for two years.

Judge Jim Tindal told Davies he was being given a chance to keep clear of drugs and keep out of trouble.

Davies, of Freeston Terrace, St Georges, was also given a six-month concurrent suspended sentence for escaping and was made subject to a rehabilitation programme.

He had admitted burglary with intent to steal at Kiyokuni Europe Ltd in Holyhead Road, Priorslee, and escaping lawful custody.

The court heard that plant equipment worth more than £2,000 was taken and £1,000 damage was caused at the premises.

Mr Oliver King, for Davies, said his client had previous convictions for burglary but had been out of trouble for some time.

However, he was a pillion passenger on a motorbike that crashed in 2014 killing his close friend and he had turned to cocaine and alcohol.

Mr King said Davies needed to fund his habit and others took advantage of his addiction and got him to assist them in the burglary at the premises which was located at the rear of his home.
