Police say the 16-year-old girl from the Market Drayton area had been bullied on Instagram.

Constable Mick Sturland, of the Market Drayton safer neighbourhood team, said: "We dealt with two 16 year olds who had been bullying a 16-year-old female on Instagram for some time.

"The female in question had been kept away from school by her parents for fear of these two.

"I'd like to stress that cyber bullying is not a victimless crime and has real life consequences for the victims. Remember, when it's out there, it's out there forever.

"Both offenders have been dealt with in accordance with the parents' wishes.

"If you're a parent concerned about your child's online activity, you should have regular chats with your child about what they're doing online, who they're talking to and if they are happy online."

Earlier this year parents in Market Drayton were warned about the dangers of cyber bullying after police received complaints about it happening on social media in the town.
