The signs, advertising 'I Love Shifnal', '20's Plenty' and the upcoming Shifnal Carnival have been cut down from various sites across the town.

In the case of the 20's Plenty signs, two have been removed, with one found dumped in a bin.

Liz Goodman, a spokeswoman for Shifnal Town Council, said: "These banners are private property and it is therefore a criminal offence to remove them without authority.

"If an individual has an opinion that they wish to convey to the town council, then please contact the town clerk on 01952 461490.

"The police have been informed and CCTV images will be obtained in order to identify the perpetrators of this vandalism.

"The banners are there to inform residents and visitors to the town about various events and it is a shame that someone is deliberately removing them."
