Bomere Heath stabbing: Man, 54, admits to attempted murder
A man who stabbed his partner and injured his 86-year-old mother has pleaded guilty to attempted murder.
Wayne Williams, 54, admitted one charge of attempted murder and another of grievous bodily harm with intent.
Williams, of Sefton Drive, Bomere Heath, entered the pleas at Stafford Crown Court. He will be sentenced on July 10.
The charges relate to attacks on his mother Elizabeth Williams and partner Louise Robinson.
The stabbing took place earlier this year in the village near Shrewsbury.
Both victims survived despite suffering serious wounds in the attack.
Police had been called to reports of a stabbing outside a house on Sefton Drive after receiving a 999 call at about 8.15am on Wednesday, March 8.
When they arrived officers found one woman with a stab wound to the chest and another woman with head injuries.
None of the injuries was life threatening.
However, the air ambulance was summoned and paramedics and police cars raced to the scene.
Williams also suffered multiple injuries from knife wounds during the incident.
It is understood his injuries were self inflicted.
After being stabilised at the scene, the injured were flown by air ambulance to hospitals in Stoke, Birmingham and the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
The attacks shocked the quiet village and led to a large area around the bungalow where the stabbings took place being cordoned off.
The nearby Co-op store where one of the women involved raised the alarm was closed while detectives carried out their investigations.
Forensic officers in white suits searched the home and the surrounding area and there was a heavy police presence while they completed their work.
One eye witness was outside the Co-op store, which is situated just around the corner from the bungalow, when the drama unfolded.
She described at the time how a woman ran into the shop wearing a dressing gown and slippers, carrying a knife and covered in blood.
She said: “I was pretty scared. She just ran into the shop and there was quite a lot of blood.”
No bail application was made during the hearing and Williams was remanded in custody to await sentencing.
