Three arrested after police chase across Mid Wales
Three men have been arrested after a high speed police chase across Mid Wales.
The men, all from the Wolverhampton area, are alleged to have attempted to steal fuel before leading police on a pursuit across the county.
However the men were disturbed by a witness and fled the scene in a blue Peugeot.
An hour and a half later at 12.20am yesterday, officers located the car travelling along Llanidloes Road in the direction of Newtown, and despite indicating the vehicle to stop, it failed to, and a police pursuit across Montgomeryshire took place.
Police contact was finally made as the car with the three men on board approached Welshpool, and a crash occurred on the A483 near Coed-y-Dinas, Welshpool.
The police used the vehicle to make a “tactical stop”, the force said.
Three men from Wolverhampton are now in custody and one was taken to hospital with injuries.
A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “Following the incident the three men, aged 49, 25 and 22, all from Wolverhampton, were arrested.
“One was conveyed to hospital with minor injuries and has since been released into police custody.
“An examination was carried out of the scene and both vehicles were preserved as part of the investigation.”
