Gaming machines damaged and cash stolen in Bridgnorth pub raid
Burglars damaged gaming machines and stole cash in a raid at a Bridgnorth pub.
Police were called to the Jewel of the Severn Wetherspoons pub in High Town at about 2am on Wednesday.
Laura Maltby, spokeswoman for West Mercia police, said: "Police were called to a report of a burglary at a premises on High Street in Bridgnorth at around 2am.
"Unknown offender or offenders are believed to have forced entry to the front of the premises sometime between 1.30am and 2am.
"A number of gaming machines were damaged and a quantity of cash was taken.
She added: "We're particularly keen to speak to the driver of a Vauxhall Corsa as we think they may have information that could help with our inquiries."
Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon said: “ We can confirm that intruders gained access to the pub at 1.45am and smashed and took money from three gaming machines.
“The pub remained closed while police investigated and it reopened at 1.30pm.
“We will assist the police in any way possible to apprehend the intruders.
“Although this is an upsetting incident for the pub and its staff, we are grateful that no one was injured.”
Inquiries are currently ongoing and officers would like anyone who was in the area or who witnessed people acting suspiciously at the time to come forward.
