Four arrested over assault on Newtown woman, 88

Four men have been arrested in connection with a brutal assault on an 88-year-old woman in her home near Newtown.

The incident occurred on Monday June 19, when Blanche Rowlands suffered significant facial injuries and a broken arm.

Dyfed Powys Police today confirmed the investigation was still ongoing but arrests had been made after the incident in Upper Dolfor Road.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Dyfed Powys Police confirm that four men have been arrested and the investigation remains in progress regarding the serious assault on an 88-year-old woman in Dolfor, near Newtown on Monday June 19.

"Police are grateful for the public response in respect of this incident and urge for anyone with information to contact Dyfed Powys Police on 101 or anonymously on Crimestoppers."

A spokesperson said: "Anyone who has a dash cam and was driving along Upper Dolfor Road between 9am and 5pm is urged to check their footage to see if they provide any evidence that could assist the investigation."

The victim was taken to hospital, and has since been released.
