Safe and a large quantity of cigarettes stolen in Bridgnorth Co-op raid

A large quantity of cigarettes and a safe containing money have been stolen in a shop raid in Bridgnorth.

Police were called to a report of a burglary at the Co-op in Mill Street this morning.

It is believed that the incident happened between 11pm yesterday and 2am today.

Burglars forced entry to the premises and took a large quantity of cigarettes and a safe.

Police are appealing for information following the burglary.

Detective Sergeant Greg Smith, said: "A thorough investigation is under way and officers are conducting extensive enquiries in order to locate the offenders.

"We would like to hear from anyone who has information about this incident, or who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area at the time.

"House-to-house enquiries are being conducted and there will be additional patrols in the area."
