It is the latest case of fly tipping that has been spotted blighting the streets of Shifnal.

The dump was spotted today (THURS) by Telford & Wrekin Council, who are appealing for information that might lead to the culprits.

The rubbish, that looks to be left over from a garden has been dumped near Castle Farm Way and Priorslee Lake.

Officers have also been visiting pupils at the Holy Trinity Academy in Priorslee to talk about litter and graffiti.

After the session, students picked up litter in Priorslee and marked up all the chewing gum at school.

Telford & Wrekin Council has recently announced it will be hiring 40 new officers to police anti-social behaviour.

Fines of up to £400 will be given out for flytipping, with the powers to punish people for things like littering, graffiti and failing to clean up dog foul.

In the most serious of cases, offenders could end up in court where, if found guilty, the penalties would be much harsher.

£300,000 will also be invested in mobile CCTV cameras in a bid to catch more people in the act.

Environmental officers would be out on the streets, working in neighbourhoods and with schools to teach people how to recycle properly and manage their waste better. As part of the educational approach, they would also inform the public of the services the council provides.

Flytipping can be reported through Telford & Wrekin Council's app or by calling 01952 384384 or visiting telford.gov.uk.
