'Like something from Fast and Furious' as sports cars race down M54 hard shoulder in Shropshire - with video
Witnesses said it was like something from the Fast and the Furious films as sports cars chased along the hard shoulder of the M54 during rush hour.
Undertaking the traffic, the cars and 4x4s swerved in and out of the main lanes to avoid slower moving vehicles.
About 12 vehicles were seen travelling from the M6 along the M54 between Junction 2 and 3 towards Shrewsbury.
Witnesses said they were amazed there wasn't a crash, and that it reminded them of the Fast and the Furious movies.
Footage was captured by press officer Rachel Jenkins, who said: "I got on the M6 at junction 10 and I noticed cars speeding to get on the motorway there but I thought nothing of it.
"Then when I reached the M54 exit I noticed about four sports cars and about four 4x4 swerving in and out of traffic.
"As I drove further along the M54 more started to whizz down the hard shoulder and stopping traffic, which I think was to allow them to race.
"In total about 12 cars used the hard shoulder to get ahead. Luckily there weren't any accidents, which is amazing really."
Daniel Butler, of West Mercia Police, said today: "On August 2 at approximately 5.30pm West Mercia Police received reports of anti-social-behaviour on the M54 near junction 3.
"Police were informed that there were cars speeding along the hard shoulder.
"Investigations are currently ongoing."
