Telford murder probe: Four arrested after taxi driver dies in crash
Two men and two woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a taxi driver crashed into a tree and died in Telford.
Two women aged 37 and 18, and two men aged 31 and 18, were arrested yesterday and remain in police custody.
Detectives are currently investigating reports an occupant of the Skoda was involved in two arguments with the occupants of a silver Peugeot 307 shortly before the crash.
The first altercation is said to have happened close to the Tesco store on Park Avenue in Madeley and the second shortly afterwards, near to the pedestrian crossing close to the entrance of the nearby Woodlands School.
The driver suffered a cardiac arrest and was given CPR at the scene of the crash on Ironbridge Road at 10.30pm, but could not be saved.
A passenger in the Skoda, a man in his 20s, was also taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with injuries that are not thought to be life threatening.
Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Tonks from West Mercia Police said: "We are appealing for anyone who saw either of the altercations on Monday evening to contact police. We are also appealing for anyone who saw a silver Peugeot 307 and red Skoda Octavia travelling along Park Avenue, Park Street, Ironbridge Road and then Madeley Road, to come forward."
Both Ironbridge Road and the taxi rank outside of Tesco in Madeley were taped off yesterday as police conducted their investigations.
