Thieves targetting vehicles parked on Shropshire driveways
Car thieves are targetting vehicles on driveways in south Shropshire.
A car and a camper van have been stolen from drives in the Church Stretton and Ludlow areas in the past week, with a third driveway theft attempted in Chirbury.
The activity follows two vehicles thefts, of a caravan and a dumper truck, in the Craven Arms area in recent weeks.
The car, a blue Peugeot 406, registration R718 WJA, was taken from a driveway in Julian Road, Ludlow, between 10pm on Sunday and 5.45am on Monday.
The camper van, a white Chausson Flash with registration number WA59 FSS, was stolen from a driveway in Ludlow Road, Little Stretton, sometime between 9pm on Thursday, August 3, and 11.30am on Friday.
Reports were later received about a group of people, alleged to have Irish accents, with a camper van, who had been in the area enquiring about acquiring another such van.
A few days earlier, overnight between August 2 and August 3, a detached garage at Wotherton, Chirbury, was broken into and an attempt made to steal a vehicle on the driveway.
In recent weeks a white Bailey Pegasus caravan was stolen from a business park at Marshbrook, between Church Stretton and Craven Arms, overnight between July 20 and 21. A similar four-berth Bailey Pegasus caravan was taken from a farm at Rhosgadfa, Oswestry during the day on July 21.
The night before a compound was broken into near Craven Arms and a one tonne dumper truck, hired out to a contractor, was stolen.Witnesses on the night reported seeing two males with a silver Renault Kangoo van acting suspiciously nearby. During the same night alarms at the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre in Craven Arms were activated but no break-in was reported. Anyone with information on any of the incidents is urged to call 101.
