Since Saturday morning, police officers have arrested 14 men for dealing drugs, one man for possession of ketamine, two men for assault, one man for the possession of an offensive weapon and one man for fraud and forgery.

Following covert and overt policing tactics, Staffordshire police say it has disrupted a number of drug dealing enterprises, including a group of six men trying to sell half a kilogram of tablets believed to be ecstasy.

Superintendent Martin Brereton, commander for the V Festival policing operation at Weston Park, said: "The event is proceeding very smoothly and peacefully so far, which is great to see. In partnership with the event's security team there has been some outstanding work to prevent drugs getting into the festival and these arrests should serve as a message to others thinking about making the same mistake.

"Once again V at Weston Park is proving itself to be one of the safest events in the country and that is testament to the work of our officers and our partners to prevent crime and create a safe environment for people to enjoy themselves.

"Our officers continue to patrol the event all weekend so please speak to them if you need help or advice, or in an emergency please call 999."

On Friday night police and festival organisers put out a warning that they had seized what they called an "extremely dangerous drug".

The drug, Pentylone and N-Ethylpentylone, they say has been seen at recent music festivals and has "severe adverse effects".
