Telford taxi driver says he was racially abused by passenger
A taxi driver claims to have been racially abused and physically attacked while dropping off a passenger.
Police say the driver, in his 30s, received minor injuries after an argument on Sunday night.
The trip took the passenger from Dawley to Smallhill Road in Lawley Village in Telford.
Kieren Bodill, of West Mercia Police, said: “We were called at approximately 11.17pm on August 20 to reports of an assault in Lawley Village, Telford.
“The incident took place between 11:10pm and 11:15pm on Smallhill Road.
“It is reported that the victim, a man in his 30s, had been dropping off a passenger, when a verbal and physical altercation has taken place. The victim received minor injuries that did not require treatment.
“Officers are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident, and are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who has any information, to come forward.
“Please contact west Mercia Police on 101, quoting 752s of 20 August 20 2017.”
