Drink drive arrest after crash near Newport

Emergency services were called by a member of the public to Church Aston, where the car had crashed this morning.

Police say that the driver was unconscious and was initially believed to be in cardiac arrest when police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the scene just before 12pm.

PC Lee Thomas, from Newport Safer Neighbourhood Team broke a window to allow paramedics to get to the driver, who was found not to be in arrest, but was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
