Man pushed grandmother in face Welshpool shop
A man pushed his grandmother in the face in a shop and told her “it won’t be long before you’re dead”.
William Mark Windsor swore at his grandmother in M&Co in Broad Street, Welshpool, on June 26.
A member of staff at the store said he told the victim he would “shut her up”, told her that she smelled, and she would soon be “10 foot under.”
The staff member reported the incident to the police. At Welshpool Magistrates Court, the bench heard that Windsor, 31, of Mount Street, Welshpool, admitted an assault charge.
Prosecutor Helen Tench said the pair were in the store, and Windsor said to his grandmother: “It won’t be long before you’re dead.”
He prodded his grandmother in the face and swore at her, with the member of staff reporting “disgusting” language.
When interviewed by police, Windsor said they had been in town and his grandmother had been saying things about his children.
He admitted to pushing his grandmother but said he didn’t punch her. Mrs Tench added the victim did not wish to make a complaint and did not have injuries.
Mike Davies, defending, said his client had a problem with crack cocaine and had been seeking help.
He said it had been a traumatic time for the family with proceeds on going related to his children, which is grandmother is involved in.
He added his client was willing to answer questions about the incident, even though he knew his grandmother did not wish to make a complaint.
Mr Davies said a pre-sentence report would be required due to the domestic violence nature of the offence.
Magistrates agreed and adjourned the case to October 17 for a report.
