New appeal for information over pensioner beaten in her Newtown home
A renewed appeal for information into an attack on a pensioner has been issued after two suspects were released under investigation.
In June, Blanche Rowlands, 89, was attacked in her own home and suffered serious injuries, and had items of jewellery stolen from her home in Newtown.
Three men were arrested in connection with the incident.
One man was released in July under investigation, and two more were bailed.
On September 20 both answered to bail, and were released under investigation.
Police are still searching for information surrounding the June 19 attack, with the jewellery not yet recovered.
Dyfed-Powys Police have now renewed their appeal.
Newtown Detective Sergeant Ian Whitgreave said: "We are still working hard on our investigation into this appalling attack on a vulnerable victim.
"We are investigating three suspects and following new lines of enquiry; however we still need to recover the jewellery stolen during the robbery.
"Of note is the bracelet with the engraving ‘Blanche’.
“We have previously released this photograph of jewellery stolen from the victims’ home and would ask people to look very closely at the image.
“If you recognise this jewellery - perhaps someone has offered it for sale, or you have spotted it in a shop or car boot sale - we would urge you to contact us.”
Last month, her nephew Mervyn Lloyd-Jones said he was frustrated at a lack of answers.
He said: "It is just so frustrating that something hasn’t happened yet.
"We just want some answers, we are anxious to know what happened – as are the rest of the local community.”
If anyone has any information, they are asked to call DC 167 Amy Davies with any information on 101 (Ex 51328) quoting crime reference DPP/0070/19/06/2017/01/C.
