Olivia-Violet Reeves: 9,000 back petition over killer driver's sentence
More than 9,000 people have now signed a petition demanding a review of the sentence given to a drink-driver who killed a Shrewsbury schoolgirl.
The petition was launched after Olivia-Violet Reeves' family had a request to reconsider 77-year-old Roger Goodall's four-and-a-half year sentence turned down.
More than 9,300 people from all over the country have been signing the petition since it was launched just two weeks ago.
Olivia-Violet's uncle, Simon Reeves, thanked the members of the public who have signed the petition.
He said: "It is not far off the 10,000 mark and we just want to say a massive thank you to all the people who have supported the petition. It means a lot to our family. Some of the comments coming back are unbelievable. Stuff that has happened in the past, you think things have to change. It cannot go on like this.
"People from all over the place have been adding their names, we even had someone from Australia over the weekend."

Olivia-Violet’s family applied to the Solicitor General for permission to appeal the sentence, which they said was too lenient, but just a few days later they learned they had been unsuccessful.
Olivia-Violet, a pupil at St George's School, Shrewsbury, was walking along Mytton Oak Road, Copthorne, in June when Goodall's Range Rover mounted the pavement, hitting her at speed.
She was rushed to Birmingham Children's Hospital where she died in her mother's arms.
Goodall, of The Mount Shrewsbury, was jailed for four-and-a-half years in September for causing Olivia-Violet's death by dangerous driving.
Goodall had also also admitted drink-driving, with Wolverhampton Crown Court being told that the pensioner had drunk wine in a lay-by shortly before he hit Olivia-Violet as she walked to catch the bus home from school.
