'It went off with a massive explosion' - Fireworks thrown at teenagers from car in Oswestry
Three teenagers escaped potentially serious injury after a lit firework was shot at them from a car.
The youngsters were walking along Unicorn Road in Oswestry, when a red car stopped next to them.
Those inside the car threw eggs and then a lit firework in their direction, it was claimed today.
The firework just missed the group and the car sped away from the scene.
One of the youngsters, Kevin Hall, 16, said the firework just missed him and his friends and landed on the footpath.
His mother Liz warned the consequences could have been a lot worse, and someone could have been seriously injured by the “stupid act”.
She said: “He never really goes out, but he did on Halloween and then this happened.
“At first he said eggs were thrown, and then a firework appeared and just missed the three of them.
“It was so dangerous, if it was another person, maybe an old lady or an old man it could have been much more serious.
“I called the police straight away when he got home, and I put something on social media just to warn other people, I don’t want this to happen to them.
“He doesn’t remember many details of the car, so the police can’t do a lot, but I just want to warn people it could happen to them, it was such a frightening incident.”
Kevin was left shaken by the ordeal, as was Becky Owen who was driving behind the car.
She said it stopped in the road, and at first she thought a cigarette had been thrown out of the window, but when it landed near her car she realised it was something much bigger.
She said: “I was driving and the car in front, which I remember was red, slowed right down, then I noticed some kind of spark coming out of the driver’s window.
“When I saw how big it was I realised it was a firework.
“It landed just by my car door and it went off with a massive explosion.”
