Man arrested over fire in flat above Telford shop
A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life after a blaze at a flat above a Telford shop.
Wellington's Clarks shoe store sustained minor ceiling damage and was temporarily closed following the fire in the flat above the premises.
A man, in his 30s, was rescued from inside a flat above the shop, in New Street, on October 26. Several others were led to safety at the height of the blaze which sent smoke billowing from windows shortly before 9am.
In a statement Clarks said: "The only damage to the store from the fire in the privately owned flats above the store was water damage to the store’s ceiling and carpet as a result of the fire brigade putting out the fire in the flat and this damage was repaired before the re-opening."

The business reopened the next day. Fire crews helped with clean up in the aftermath.
Around 25 firefighters were called to the building after a passer by spotted smoke pouring from an upper floor window.
Four fire engines and an aerial ladder platform and support team from Shrewsbury station helped tackle the blaze.
Police and two ambulances also attended.
A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life following the blaze. He has not been charged with any offence, but has been released under investigation after the incident that left the premises smokelogged with blackened walls and windows.
