Judge Niclas Parry told David Currens, 33, of Telford, formerly living in Llangollen: “Months later she found out that you had sexually abused her and recorded what you had done.”

A jury at Caernarfon Crown Court found him guilty of sexual assault, voyeurism and three charges of taking indecent photographs of a child. He had pleaded guilty to four offences of sexual assault involving what was shown in the footage but denied looking at them for sexual gratification.

Elen Owen, prosecuting, said he was easily identifiable on the images “even though his face isn’t shown, because of the distinctive tattoos on his hand”.

A police expert had recovered from deleted items four movie clips and a still image showing Currens assaulting the woman, who was in her thirties.

Dafydd Roberts, defending, said Currens had been in custody since June and had used the time to address his drug addiction.

“He is conscious of the fact that heroin and alcohol caused him to behave in this way,” said Mr Roberts.

Judge Parry imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and ordered Currens to register as a sex offender, both orders indefinite.

The judge told him it was “quite shameful behaviour.”

Thanking the jury he added: “It was a distasteful case.”
