Mary Blanche Rowlands, 88, known as Blanche, was at home in Upper Dolfor Road on June 19 when her house was robbed, jewellery was taken and she was left with a broken arm and a suspected broken cheek bone and hip.

Carl John Barrett, 50, of Dinas, Newtown; Keith Charles Grogan, 41 of Frolic Street, Newtown, and Jeffrey John Earp, 50, of Ceiriog, Newtown, were all arrested on Wednesday and appeared at Wrexham Magistrates Court yesterday to face charges of conspiracy to commit robbery.

Grogan and Barrett appeared in the dock together first, only to confirm their details. Earp appeared separately after the two co-defendants had been dealt with, also giving his details.

No pleas were entered by any defendant.

The attack on June 19 saw the victim beaten repeatedly and locked in a bedroom.

Her nephew Mervyn Lloyd-Jones has made a number of calls for people to come forward with information to aid the police in their investigation.

Prosecutor Justin Espie told the court that the crown proposed the three defendants should be remanded in custody. All three men were denied bail and remanded to appear in court again before Mold Crown Court on January 18.
