Breakfast break-in: Burglar caught eating in kitchen at Shrewsbury house . . . at 5am
A Shrewsbury homeowner walked in on a burglar eating food in their kitchen.
The burglar broke into the house in Lindley Street, between 5.10am and 5.40am on December 23.
The victim was awake at the time and walked from the living room into the kitchen to find a man eating out of a plastic carton.
Police said he ran off through the back door.
The offender is described as white, aged between 25 and 35, and of slim build. He was said to be wearing all dark clothing and a black cap.
The victim said he had a mark on his right cheek which could have been a mole.
It was later discovered that a purse containing seven rings and £140 had been stolen, as well as a pouch of tobacco from the kitchen table.
A home in St Andrews Road, Shrewsbury, was also burgled between lunch time on Christmas Day and 4pm on Boxing Day.
Two mahogany clocks, a set of golf clubs, a silver cutlery set and various other items were stolen.
Police say a tidy search was carried out before the offender left through the back door.
