Masked robbers steal case of cash then escape in getaway car

A G4S security officer was assaulted and two men made off with a case of money in broad day light outside a supermarket.

The robbery took place at 10.30am this morning outside Aldi supermarket in Bridgnorth.

A G4S security van driver was assaulted by two men, who then made off with a case full of money.

A third man was waiting in the car to drive the two attackers away, before the car was found abandoned on the nearby Morfe Road soon after.

Eye witnesses reported the occupants of the car running off from the scene, and the two attackers were described as having their faces covered.

The van driver was not seriously injured, and Detective Inspector Scott Harris has appealing for information from the public.

He said: "While the attack took place a third man waited in a car, which the two attackers got into and were driven off.

"That car - a black Peugeot 308, with the registration plate YL14 LTF - was found abandoned on nearby Morfe Road shortly afterwards, and eye witnesses saw people running away from it.

"The two attackers are described as wearing face coverings of some kind - possibly scarves or balaclavas."
