Man arrested on suspicion of drug driving in Shrewsbury
A suspected drug driver was arrested by police in Shrewsbury after failing a roadside test.
The man was stopped on the A5 near Copthorne at about 10.30pm on Sunday and taken to Telford Police Station.
A spokesman said: "On Sunday police were called to the A5 near Copthorne following reports of a male who was driving under the influence of drugs.
"Officers stopped the vehicle at around 22.30pm and spoke to the male driver. He was subsequently asked to carry out the roadside drugs test. Following a short period the test came back and the male had failed the roadside test.
"The male was duly arrested for the offence and taken to Telford Police Station to be dealt with.
"West Mercia Police continue to send out a positive message that drug drivers will be proactively dealt with."
