Police chase ends in three arrests after Shrewsbury pub burgled
A police chase ended with three men being arrested after a Shrewsbury pub was burgled in the early hours of this morning.
Police were called to The Grapes Hotel at Bicton Heath after it was reported that men had entered the pub and stolen cash and spirits.
A group of five men made off in a black Audi and made their way through Shrewsbury towards the M54.
Police patrols lined the car's anticipated route and deployed stingers in its path.
The car was stopped at junction 7 of the M54 and the five men ran off.
Police officers on foot as well as those with dogs and the force's helicopter scoured the area and three men, aged, 20, 22 and 42 were arrested. They were taken to the police station and remain in custody.
A police spokeswoman said: "We were called at 2.10am to a suspected burglary at The Grapes Hotel, Welshpool Road.
"A vehicle containing five suspects drove away from the incident location.
"Police patrols had strategically placed themselves along the vehicle's anticipated route and when it passed the officers they deployed stingers.
"These stingers successfully disabled a tyres and the vehicle pulled over.
"The five men ran off. Police dogs, officers on foot, and a helicopter were deployed, and they located three of the men. Those men were arrested on suspicion of burglary and currently remain in custody."
