Police renew appeal over serious sex assault at park

Police have renewed calls for witnesses following a serious sexual assault at a beauty spot.

Dolerw Park in Newtown was closed after Dyfed-Powys Police received a report of a serious sexual assault in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police have now re-issued an appeal for witnesses who may have seen someone in the area at around 1am, urging anyone with information to come forward.

A spokeswoman for the force said: "Dyfed-Powys Police is continuing to investigate a sexual assault against a female, which is reported to have occurred at Dolerw Park, Newtown, in the early hours of Saturday.

"We are appealing for anyone with information about this incident to contact police in Newtown by calling 101."

On Saturday, a Park Run event that was due to take place in Dolerw Park was moved to an alternative route by organisers, as police were continuing their investigations.
