The 23-year-old woman from Shrewsbury remains in custody after she was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm last night.

She was detained after police were called to reports of an assault at a Harlescott Close property at around 9.30pm.

A man in his 20s sustained injuries to his ear and a woman in her 20s sustained facial injuries.

The injured pair were found in different locations but both were taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Murray MacGregor said.

"We understand a male patient was in the street in the Harlsecott Grange area and a member of the public had come across him," Mr MacGregor added.

"He was in his 20s and had been assaulted, he had head and facial injuries.

"We found a female in a different location in Harlescott Grange who had head injuries.

"They were both taken to hospital in Shrewsbury."

West Mercia Police are not appealing for witnesses.
