St Andrew's Church, in Church Aston, near Newport, will be holding the service in memory of Cheryl Hooper between 10am and 10.40am on Sunday.

Cheryl died after being shot outside her house in Farmers Gate, Newport, on the night of January 26.

Reverend Zoe Heming said: "After the tragic, violent death of a mother in our community, we are celebrating this Mothering Sunday by inviting the whole community to come together to celebrate and remember all mothers.

"We are also going to be collecting donations for the work of the Children's Society to support their valuable work with vulnerable children."

The event will also include a performance by the Church Aston Infants school choir.

A 45-year-old man arrested on suspicion of Cheryl's murder is receiving medical treatment for gunshot wounds. The cause of his injuries are not being treated as suspicious.

He will remain under police guard while his wounds are being treated.
