Muhammad Salim had also attempted to rape the woman by getting her to commit a serious sex act, Shrewsbury Crown Court was told.

The jury was told yesterday the defendant and the alleged victim had previously been in contact on social media.

Salim, 21, of Crescent Road, Hadley, denies the three charges and claims the incidents on February 2 last year were all consensual.

At court yesterday Mr Antoine Muller, prosecuting, said that Salim had told the woman he was a delivery driver for a Chinese restaurant.

Salim had suggested they "chill" and "hang out together" while he was on his deliveries around the town.

Mr Muller said that "foolishly" the woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, agreed to meet the defendant.

Salim had picked her up in his Audi car at around 10pm and driven to a remote area by fields at the end of a cul-de-sac.

Mr Muller said that Salim had tried to kiss her and alleged that he had touched her and committed the other sex assaults.

The victim had told police Salim had grabbed her hair and had pulled her face and she alleged he had tried to get her into the back seat of the car.

Mr Muller said the young woman said that she carried out a sex act on Salim, but that she "had to do it" so she could get home.

The following day the woman was "upset and crying" when she spoke to her sister and was advised to contact police.

Mr Muller said Salim was arrested and made a prepared statement to police in which he said the woman had asked to meet him and there was no sexual activity.

Salim said the young woman had directed him to the cul-de-sac and that everything happened with her consent.

The trial continues.
