The town's CCTV scheme was launched in 2001 since when it has gone on to win awards and has been used as an example across the country in how to run a successful operation.

It was named the best volunteer-led CCTV project in the county and also won a local council special project award.

Recently Oswestry Town Council funded an application for grant funding from the Police and Crime Commissioner for additional infrastructure and cameras.

Mobile cameras have been one suggestion, to be used in known hotspots for crime and anti-social behaviour.

This was used in nearby Whittington in the fight against anti-social behaviour happening around the castle area.

Tonight the council will hear from CCTV co-ordinator Jim Stafford about quotations for the extra equipment.
